 Special reviews and other investigations

Special reviews and other investigations and matters bought to our attention, focus on specific issues across the Victorian public sector. Potential areas for examination are identified during the year, either as part of ongoing audit activities or through inquiries directed to the Auditor-General by members of parliament or the general public.

In addition, specific legislation, such as the Whistleblowers Protection Act, provides for the Ombudsman to refer matters to the Auditor-General, for possible investigation.

The results of these special reviews and other investigations are reported in Results of financial statement and other audits reports or Other parliamentary reports.

The findings and recommendations contained in these reports are aimed at presenting value-adding and constructive suggestions for better financial and resource management of the Victorian public sector.
